FOREST, Va. - Veteran Bridgewater College baseball head coach Curt Kendall was named ODAC Coach of the Year and Eagles outfielder Nick Fulk was named ODAC Player of the Year in voting by the conference's coaches.
Kendall guided the Eagles to the top of the ODAC standings in 2013 as the team finished with a 19-1 conference record, six games ahead of the second-place team. The Eagles are 29-9 overall after winning their first game of the conference tournament against Roanoke.
Now in his 28th season as the Eagles' head coach, this marks the sixth time Kendall has received the ODAC Coach of the Year honor.
As Bridgewater's leadoff hitter, Fulk was the catalyst for the Eagles offense. The junior led the ODAC during the regular season in hits with 63 and runs scored with 43. He ranked in the Top 10 in several more statistical categories including: second in stolen bases with 17, third in triples with four, third in total bases with 88, fourth in batting average at .404, eighth in on-base percentage at .458, and ninth in doubles with 13.
Joining Fulk on the first team was junior pitcher Robert Gallet. Gallet was 5-3 during the regular season with a 4.77 ERA. In conference games, he posted a 4-0 mark with an impressive 2.54 ERA.
Three Eagles were named to the All-ODAC second team.
Sophomore pitcher Corey Armentrout finished the regular season with a 5-0 record and one save. In ODAC games, he was 4-0 with one save and a 3.35 ERA.
Joining Armentrout on the second team were junior second baseman Bryan Sanderson and senior third baseman Andrew Hacker. Sanderson hit for a .344 average and tied for the conference lead in doubles with 18. Hacker matched Fulk's .404 batting average and was second in the ODAC in hits.
Bridgewater senior outfielder Jonathan Mason was named to the third team. Mason tied for the ODAC lead in homers with eight and led the conference with 44 RBIs.
Lynchburg's Martin Henderlite was named the ODAC Pitcher of the Year, Randolph-Macon's Mitchell Keeler was ODAC Rookie of the Year and Guilford's John Macon Smith was named the ODAC Baseball Student-Athlete of the Year.
