Four Eagles Named To VaSID All-State Baseball Team

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Bridgewater College placed four players on the VaSID All-State college division baseball team released Monday, including three representatives on the first team. The team is selected by a vote of the state's sports information professionals.

Named to the first team from Bridgewater were outfielders Nick Fulk and Jonathan Mason along with third baseman Andrew Hacker.

The all-state nod adds to a long list of postseason accolades accumulated by Fulk. Fulk, a junior and ODAC Player of the Year, led the Eagles in hits with 72, runs scored with 46, triples with four and stolen bases with 20. He finished the season with a .371 batting average.

Mason, a senior, led the team and the ODAC in homers with 10 and RBIs with 50. He finished the season with a .326 batting average.

Hacker, also a senior, was right behind Fulk with a .369 batting average. He finished the season with 69 base hits and 32 RBIs.

Junior pitcher Nick Corbin was named to the all-state second team as one of the relief pitchers. Corbin recorded four saves and a finished with a 2-0 record. He also set a new single-season program record with a 0.74 ERA. 

Christopher Newport outfielder Justin Weaver was named Player of the Year and his teammate Austin Chrismon was the Pitcher of the Year. Randolph-Macon claimed the remaining two top honors as Ray Hedrick was named Coach of the Year and Mitchell Keeler was selected Rookie of the Year.
