BRIDGEWATER, Va. – On Thursday, Bridgewater College head football coach Michael Clark announced the addition of two coaches who will join the staff in August and work on the defensive side of the football. Roberto Pinilla will work with the defensive line and Joseph Roane will handle the linebackers for the 2012 season.
Pinilla was an all-conference football player at West Georgia University and brings Football Championship Subdivision (FCS, formerly Division I-AA) experience to the fold. In his coaching career, Pinilla has served as a defensive line coach at three schools, including The Citadel and Furman. Most recently, he served as the defensive line coach at Presbyterian College in South Carolina. Pinilla is a graduate of West Georgia University with a bachelor of science in mathematics.
Roane, a Richmond, Va. native, is a graduate of Washington and Lee University who just recently completed his master's degree at West Virginia University. During his time in Lexington, he played mulitple positions on the defensive side of the ball and was a member of the Generals' 2006 ODAC Championship team.
"Filling our seasonal spots in the fall can be difficult, and we are blessed to get such high quality coaches in these positions," commented Clark. "I appreciate the sacrifices made by Roberto and Joe to work at the college level, and look forward to their contributions making us better in 2012."
The Eagles report back to campus on August 11th to begin preparation for the 2012 campaign.
