Nine Earn Spots on NFHCA All-Academic Team

CHANDLER, Ariz.  – On the heels of the Bridgewater College field hockey team earning a spot on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Academic teams list, nine Bridgewater College players earned a spot on the 2012 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad for their achievements in the classroom during the 2012 season.

Five juniors, two sophomores and two freshmen were represented on the list of the top scholar-athletes in field hockey at the Division III level.

Jessica Balsano, Megan Gould, Colleen Dickson, Betsy Joslyn and Jennifer Tompkins represented the junior class for the Eagles, while Caroline Augsburger and Kaitlyn Harris represented the sophomores. Freshmen Caroline Fletcher and Taylor Prillaman were also tabbed the list.

On Monday, the Eagles were recognized for their accomplishments in the classroom after the team boasted above a 3.0 GPA during the 2012 season. Bridgewater was one of five Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) teams recognized by the national coaching organization.

Bridgewater wrapped up the 2012 season with an 11-8 overall record. Bridgewater's 11 wins is the highest wins total for the program since the Eagles tallied 11 wins in 1998. The Eagles also reached the semifinal round of the conference tournament.
