Golfers Finish Fourth in Consolation Tournament at Marine Corps Intercollegiate

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. – Despite missing the cut for the championship round, senior golfer Travis Gahman shot a Bridgewater course-record five-under, 65, to pace the Bridgewater Eagles golfers to a fourth place finish in the consolation round at the 41st Annual Marine Corps Intercollegiate.

As a team, the Eagles shot a team total of +1, 281 to finish the weekend with a three-day total of +16, 864.

Gahman's 65 propelled the senior to a third-place finish in the Scarlet standings while setting a new team record twice in the same weekend with his five-under, 65, to finish the weekend at -3, 209.

Junior Tod Foshee was the second Eagle in the clubhouse on the final day and carded an even-par, 70, to finish the weekend at +13, 225.

Senior John Phillips was also solid on the final day, turning in a one-over. 71. to finish the three-day tournament at +2, 214.

Sophomore Matt Dye and junior Bobby Fields both shot a final-round of +5, 7.5 to wrap up the team portion of the round for the Eagles. Dye finished at +7, 219. while Fields wrapped up the weekend at +19, 231.

Guilford claimed the Scarlet consolation with a team total of 859, besting second-place finisher Christopher Newport by three strokes. Berry College finished a stroke behind the Captains and edged the Eagles by a stroke to finish in third. Johnson and Wales rounded out the top five at 866.

Bridgewater wraps up the regular season on April 14 when it competes in the McDaniel Spring Shootout.
