Averett Turns Back Eagles In Men's Soccer Action, 6-2
BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Averett University jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead Wednesday and went on to defeat the Bridgewater College Eagles, 6-2, in men's soccer action.
The Cougars scored four goals in the first 24 minutes of action to take control of the contest.
Bridgewater scored its first goal in the 38th minute when Adam Riner scored off an assist from Ryan Pigg, making the score 4-1.
Averett added a pair of in the first nine minutes of action in the second before the Eagles tallied their second goal when Pigg scored off a corner kick from Zach Cundiff.
The Eagles drop to 1-6 on the season while Averett improves to 3-2.
