WINCHESTER, Va. - Shenandoah scored with less than three minutes left to play Thursday night as the Hornets defeated Bridgewater College, 2-1.
Shenandoah led 1-0 at the half on the strength of a John Peterman goal and the Hornets held the 1-0 lead until the 85th minute.
The Eagles scored the equalizer at the 84:36 mark when Zach Malpass (Chatham, Va./Chatham) scored off an assist from Kevin Gorman (Annapolis, Md./Mount Saint Joseph) to tie the score at 1-1.
Shenandoah's Peterman scored the game-winner less than three minutes later to lift the Hornets to the victory.
Bridgewater held a 13-9 edge in shots and a slim 7-6 edge in corner kicks. Eagles' keeper Travis Morris (Westminster, Md./Winter Mills) finished with three saves.
The Eagles, now 4-8 on the season, return to conference play Saturday night at Emory & Henry. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
