EMORY, Va. - Anderson University scored the go-ahead goal in the 57th minute Friday evening and the Ravens held on for the 2-1 victory over Bridgewater at the Emory & Henry tournament.
The Ravens scored first, taking the early lead in the 12th minute. Sean Cain sent a cross from the right side and Cory Baker converted the goal for a 1-0 Anderson lead.
Anderson scored what proved to be the game-winner early in the second half. Race Williams connected on a shot from 20 yards out on the left side to put the Ravens ahead 2-1.
Over the next 22 minutes the Eagles had several opportunities with five shots and a pair of corner kicks. Over the final 10 minutes, however, the Ravens kept the Eagles in check, allowing just one shot attempt. That shot, by Bridgewater's Roberto Gonzalez, was saved by Anderson keeper Brandon Weer.
The Eagles held a commanding 20-8 advantage in shots and a 6-1 edge in corner kicks over the Ravens
Bridgewater, now 2-5 on the season, plays again Saturday evening against Southern Virginia.
