FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College
men's tennis team picked up victories in both singles and doubles
competition at day one of the Wilson ITA Southeast Regional Men's
Tennis Championships at the University of Mary Washington.
In the B4 singles group, Teddy Callow went 1-1 on the the day with a 3-6, 6-1, 10-6 first round victory.
Callow later fell in straight sets in the quarterfinals.
Sophomore Brent Floyd was perfect on the day in the B5 singles group, with a pair of straight set victories.
Bridgewater saw players go 1-2 in B6 singles action, with Martin Donaire picking up the lone win in the category. Donaire won his opening round match before falling in the quarterfinals. Donaire's teammate, junior Tim Gower, fell in a tight three-game set by a 4-6, 6-3, 10-6 score.
In doubles action, Ryan Radke and Brad DeWitt fellin the opening round by a 9-8 score.
In the second doubles group, Teddy Callow and Peter Hawkins went unscathed with a pair of wins. The tandem was victorious in the opening round by a 8-6 score, before winning their semi-final match 8-3.
Finally, in the B3 doubles group, Brent Floyd and Tim Gower also made it through the day unbeaten with 8-4 and 8-2 victories.
BC will wrap up the tournament tomorrow starting in the morning.
