Men's Tennis Opens Spring Break Trip with Win Over Trine; Radke Sets Wins Record
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - On day one in Hilton Head,
S.C., the Bridgewater Eagles men's tennis team swept singles play
after dropping all three doubles games early to earn a 6-3 victory
over Trine. Senior Chris Radke set the all-time wins record with
his 40th career victory.
Bridgewater opened things with a close loss at number one doubles
as the tandem of Chris Radke and Brad DeWitt lost in the tiebreak
by a 9-8 (7-2) tally.
BC dropped number two and three doubles as well before avenging
their losses in singles action.
Senior Chris Radke earned his 40th career victory in singles play
at number one. Radke was taken to the limit in a three set shootout
before finally prevailing by a 6-0, 1-6, 10-8 score.
At the number two post, freshman Peter Hawkins continued to roll,
winning a 6-1, 6-4 match.
Junior Brad DeWitt cruised at number three by a 6-2, 6-3 score,
while Teddy Callow was victorious at number four in the third set
tiebreak by a 6-4, 1-6, 10-3 tally.
At number five and six, Brent Floyd and Martin Donaire were also
winners. Floyd won by a 6-1, 6-0 score, while Donaire rounded
things out with a 6-1, 6-4 win.
Bridgewater is back in action on Wednesday when the Eagles take on
Baldwin-Wallace.
