Heckman Crushes 800 Meter Record at Swarthmore


SWARTHMORE, Pa. - Sophomore Nevin Heckman broke the 800 meter run school record by over a second on Monday afternoon to lead the Bridgewater Eagles men's track and field team at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier meet.

Heckman was brilliant in winning his heat to take down the school record in convincing fashion. The sophomore crossed the finish line in a time of 1:52.85 to take home a 19th place finish and best the former record held by Stanley Peyton. Peyton's former record stood since 2008 with a time of 1:54.04.

In the 5,000 meter run, junior Tim Miller led the way in a time of 15:41.67 and Trey Gibson was the second Bridgewater runner across the finish line in a time of 16:15.06.
