LEXINGTON, Va. - Bridgewater College placed fourth Saturday at the ODAC Fall Relays host by Washington and Lee University.
W&L dominated the meet, finishing first with 363 points. Sweet Briar was second with 244 points to edge Randolph-Macon with 234 points. The Eagles were next with 161 points.
Bridgewater's best event finish was fourth. The Eagles finished fourth in nine different events, including the 150 yard butterfly, the 150 yard breaststroke, the 400 yard freestyle, the 500 yard freestyle, the 200 yard medley, the 100 yard dolphin kick, the 200 yard freestyle, the 300 yard individual medley and the 200 yard (8x25) freestyle.
BC notched multiple school records on the day, with new standards being set in the 150 yard butterfly relay, the 150 yard breaststroke relay and the 500 yard freestyle relay.
The Eagles' mark of 1:33.33 in the 150 yard butterfly relay nipped the mark set last year by a mere 59-thousands of a second as the squad notched a fourth place finish.
In the 150 yard breaststroke event, the Eagles destroyed the old mark set a season ago by nearly six seconds with another fourth place finish, this time in a time of 1:49.92.
Finally, the Eagles crushed the 500 yard freestyle record by nearly half a minute, with a fourth place finishing time of 5:35.10.
Freshmen Danielle Dillon and Jeni Zeiler were on two of the record-setting relays, while junior Lauren Clague also pulled double duty on a pair of record-setting relays.
The Eagles return to action Saturday, Oct. 31 when they travel to Emory & Henry.
