Myers Earns All-ODAC Swimming Honors; Conyers Claims Sportsmanship Award

FOREST, Va. – Freshman swimmer Shannon Myers was named to the All-ODAC team as an honorable mention selection after turning in three top-ten performances at the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Championships last month.

Aside from Myers All-ODAC selection, Bridgewater senior Simone Conyers was named the Bonnie Kestner Sportsmanship Award winner.

Myers placed sixth in the 100 yard butterfly and took home a fifth-place showing in the 100 yard backstroke as she helped pace the Eagles to a fourth-place showing at the conference championships in Greensboro, N.C. The freshman rounded out her weekend with a fifth-place finish in the 200 yard butterfly.

The Roanoke, Va. native posted an outstanding freshman season, notching a number of school records along the way. Myers is just the fourth Bridgewater swimmer to earn all-conference honors.

Bridgewater wrapped up the 2011-12 season with a fourth place overall finish at the 2012 ODAC Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center. The Eagles continued to close the gap on third place Sweet Briar at the meet and recorded their highest points total at a conference championship in the four-year history of the program.
