BUENA VISTA, Va. – In the team's regular season non-conference finale, the Bridgewater Eagles women's basketball team jumped out to an early lead and never turned back as it forced 30 Southern Virginia turnovers en route to a 69-46 victory over the host Knights.
Bridgewater jumped out to an early advantage over Southern Virginia, forcing 20 Knights turnovers in the opening half en route to a 34-16 halftime lead.
Junior Jenny Logan led the way for the Eagles with 10 first-half points.
At the onset of the second half, Bridgewater and Southern Virginia went back and forth before an 8-0 run, sparked by a number of SVU turnovers propelled the Eagles to a 46-21 lead with 13:32 to play.
Southern Virginia wouldn't go away as the Knights used an 11-2 run to cut the Bridgewater lead to a 48-32 gap with 10 and change to play.
The Knights got the Bridgewater lead to 15 with eight and a half minutes to play before a 10-2 Eagles run effectively iced the game with under five minutes left.
Southern Virginia outscored Bridgewater by a point down the stretch, but it was the Eagles topping SVU by a 69-46 tally.
Jordan Burkholder led the way with a 21 point effort. Burkholder chipped in nine assists on the evening for the Eagles offense.
On the glass, a trio of Eagles led the way as Bridgewater was outrebounded by a 40-31 tally.
Bridgewater outshot Southern Virginia by a 46%-to-27% margin.
The Eagles are back in action on Saturday when they travel to Randolph-Macon.
