BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Ferrum College rallied from a 10-7 halftime deficit Thursday to defeat the Bridgewater College Eagles, 18-16 in overtime, in a non-conference women's lacrosse contest.
Bridgewater led 6-1 on a goal by Costello with 16:30 left in the first half, before Ferrum's attack finall started clicking. The Panthers closed to within 9-6 before the Eagles tallied on a goal by Crawford to lead 10-6 Ferrum scored the final goal of the half to trail 10-7 at the break.
The teams traded goals for most of the second half. Bridgewater's Costello scored with 9:23 left to give the Eagles a 16-12 lead, but that turned out to be BC's final goal of the game.
Ferrum chipped away at the deficit and tied the score at 16-16 on a goal by Melissa Windsor with 3:10 left in the game.
Brooke Hewartson scored both Ferrum goals in overtime to clinch the victory for the Panthers.
Knapp led the Eagles attack with five goals and two assists. Costello finished with four goals and one assist and Chamberlain scored three goals.
The Eagles, now 4-6 on the season, travel Saturday to Randolph-Macon for a conference contest.
