Women’s Lacrosse Announces 2012 Schedule; Exhibition Opener Slated Against Welsh National Team

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater College women's lacrosse coach Kim Lowry has announced the schedule for the Eagles women's lacrosse team for the 2012 season.

The 2012 slate for the Eagles is highlighted by an exhibition matchup at James Madison University against the Welsh National Team on February 14 at 4:30 p.m.

"We are really looking forward to the 2012 season," said Lowry, who enters her second year as the Eagles head coach. "We're starting off with an exhibition game against the Welsh National Team, which provides a great experience for our team to travel just a few miles to play international competition. From there, we will hit the road for Spring Break seeing three of four new teams to the schedule, which will help prepare us to meet our goal of making the ODAC Tournament, a challenge we were one game shy of reaching last season."

On March 3, the Eagles will open regular season play with a trip to Frostburg State. Bridgewater opens the season on a five-game road trip, including a matchup on March 8 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. with SUNY-IT.

The season-opening road trip ends with the conference opener on March 13 at Randolph before the Eagles finally come back to the Jopson Lacrosse Complex to open the home slate on March 17 against the Quakers of Guilford College.

Bridgewater will take on seven non-conference opponents during Lowry's second year at the helm, including 2013 conference addition, Shenandoah and Centennial Conference foe, McDaniel.

"The addition of four new teams includes a game at McDaniel College- which will serve as kind of a "home" game for us as nine of our players are from the greater Baltimore area. So it will serve as a nice homecoming for our group."

Bridgewater finished the 2011 season with a 6-10 overall record and a 3-6 mark in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) play.

The opening draw against the Bobcats in the season opener is slated for a 1:00 p.m. start at Frostburg State.
