Women’s Lacrosse Falls at McDaniel, 17-5

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Senior Jenny Logan netted three goals while sophomore Katie Freeman added two more scores but an early run by the Green Terror of McDaniel was too much to overcome as the Bridgewater Eagles fell by a 17-5 score in non-conference women's lacrosse action.

McDaniel scored the game's first eight goals before the Eagles got on the board with Logan's first goal of the contest with 12:24 to play in the first to cut the Green Terror lead to 8-1.

Thirty seconds later Freeman added her first goal of the game as the Eagles weaned the McDaniel advantage to six goals before the Green Terror responded with a goal of their own to push their lead to 9-2 with 11:12 to play in the opening stanza.

Freeman added her second goal of the game with 9:53 to play in the first frame before McDaniel ended the half on a three-goal spurt to take a 12-3 lead into the intermission.

After a pair of McDaniel goals to start the second half pushed the score to double digits at a 14-3 tally, Logan put her second shot of the game past the keeper to draw the score to 14-4 with under 20 to play.

McDaniel tallied two more goals to push the score to 16-4 before Logan added the final goal of the game for the Eagles with 11:40 to play to cut the Green Terror lead back to 11 at a 16-5 tally.

With 10:22 left in the contest, McDaniel scored once more to push the score a 17-5 score, which is how things would end as the Eagles dropped a road contest against the Green Terror.

Logan's hat-trick afternoon paced the Eagles, while Freeman posted two goals on six shots in the loss. Bridgewater mustered 11 shots as a team on the afternoon.

Freshman Laura Reynolds earned the loss in the cage, turning away six shots along the way.

For McDaniel, Paige Messersmith and Danielle Entrot paced the way with four goals each.

Bridgewater is back in action on Saturday when the conference slate resumes with a matchup at Lynchburg. Opening draw against the Hornets is set for 1 p.m.
