BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Anna O'Hara scored her 100th career goal as the Bridgewater College women's lacrosse team defeated Roanoke 15-11 on Friday night at Jopson Field.
O'Hara (three goals, two assists) had two consecutive free position chances about five minutes into the game but put both high, ripping the latter off the crossbar.
A minute later Roanoke goalie Carly Schoudel made a nice point-blank save on a streaking Kristen Stark, off a feed behind the cage by Shannon Rogers. Mackenzie Parcell caused a turnover on the clear, and Stark found O'Hara in transition to make it 2-1 Eagles.
O'Hara recorded her 99th with 22:05 remaining to make it 10-5 BC.
The junior's 100th goal came with 15:04 left, as she snuck a shot between the goalie and the post, off an assist from Rogers.
Dwyer Neal and Stark each had four goals for the Eagles, while Pacell caused four turnovers on defense.
A Stark assist to Kayla O'Sullivan in the first half made it 3-1. BC goalie Mikaela Brooks stopped Jenna Kuczo from point-blank range, with Ellie Armstrong scoring her second of the day soon after to make it 3-2 BC.
Neal found a wide-open Rogers with a nice pass in transition but the shot rang off the right post- the second pipe in the early going for Bridgewater.
Jenn Schwechheimer tied it at 4-4 on a man-up goal. Stark scored on the power play to make it 6-4, and the Eagles took a 6-5 lead into the break.
Neal opened the second half with two nearly identical goals within 38 seconds- posting up at the near post and then out-sprinting her defender to the middle of the area.
Bridgewater (8-2, 2-1) moves into a three-way tie for second place in the ODAC with Lynchburg and Shenandoah. Roanoke's postseason hopes are in trouble as last year's #3 seed falls to 6-6, 1-4 ODAC.
