Nationally-ranked Marlins edge Eagles, 1-0

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Nationally-ranked Virginia Wesleyan scored a late goal to slip past Bridgewater College, 1-0, in a key ODAC women's soccer matchup.

Bridgewater battled the Marlins to a scoreless tie for most of regulation play, but Virginia Wesleyan's Katie Gradel found the upper left corner of the goal from 15 yards out with just 18 seconds left in regulation to lift the Marlins to the 1-0 victory.

The Marlins held a 12-7 edge in shots. Bridgewater keeper Mackenzie Gates (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) finished the contest with seven saves.

Bridgewater is now 12-4 overall and 7-3 in the ODAC. Virginia Wesleyan improves to 15-1, 8-1 in the conference.
