The Bridgewater College women's soccer team will face a challenging schedule in 2012 at the Eagles look to continue building on their recent success.
The Eagles finished the 2011 season tied for third in the ODAC standings and completed play with a 13-5-1 overall record – the program's third consecutive winning season.
This season, in addition to playing in the always-tough ODAC, the Eagles will meet some of the top teams in the region.
Bridgewater opens its season with its home invitational featuring games with Averett and Mary Washington. Averett finished the 2011 season with a 14-3-1 overall record while Mary Washington posted a 9-7-2 mark.
The Eagles then embark on a three-game road trip with games at Hood, Greensboro and Stevenson. Greensboro posted a winning record in 2011 with an 11-6-1 mark while Stevenson was 14-6-3 and regionally ranked during the season. Bridgewater tied Stevenson 1-1 a year ago in Baltimore.
The ODAC sent three teams – Roanoke, Lynchburg and Virginia Wesleyan – to the NCAA tournament a year ago and those three along with Washington and Lee should be strong again this fall.
The always-challenging ODAC will be even tougher this season with the addition of Shenandoah. The Hornets won the USA South Conference tournament and finished the season at 15-7-1. Shenandoah edged the Eagles 1-0 in 2011.
