Women's Tennis Takes Down Trine 7-2
HILTON HEAD, S.C. - Bridgewater's women's
tennis team opened play in Hilton Head, S.C. with a 7-2 victory
over Trine.
Senior Megan Mathias opened singles play with a 6-1, 6-4 victory at
number one, while teammate Olivia Stone fell at the number two spot
by a 6-2, 6-4 score.
At number three, Morgan McGhee was a 6-3, 6-1 winner and Ally
McConaughy turned in a 6-1, 6-0 victory at number four.
Rounding out the top six, Amanda Gorby was a 6-4, 6-3 victor at
number five, while Emily Schweitzer won her second match of the
Spring by a 6-4, 6-1 tally at six.
In doubles play, McGhee and Stone were winners at number one by an
8-5 score, while the tandem of Mathias and Gorby lost a hard fought
decision at number two by a 9-7 tally.
McConaughy and Schweitzer continued their dominance in the Spring
with an 8-2 win at number three. The duo has won all four doubles
matches in 2010.
Bridgewater is back in action on Thursday when the squad does
battle with Marian (Ind.)
