Bergey Earns ODAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week Honor

FOREST, Va. - Sophomore Katy Bergey led the Bridgewater Eagles women's tennis team to a 2-0 week on the courts including a big conference victory over Hollins en route to earning the Player of the Week nod from the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

Bergey opened the week with a 6-1, 6-0 victory at her number two singles post against Randolph-Macon's Morgan Parks before knocking off Hollins' Victoria Coffee by a 6-2, 6-4 tally to move to 2-0 in singles play on the week.

With doubles teammate Katie Gordon, Bergey picked up an easy 8-0 win in top flight doubles action against the Yellow Jackets before the duo dropped a tight 8-6 match to the Montoya sisters from Hollins.

The Harrisonburg, Va. native owns a team-best five wins in dual match action this season.

Bergey and the rest of the Eagles are back in action on Sunday when they host Guilford.
