Women's Tennis Slotted At No. 5 In ODAC Preseason Poll

FOREST, Va. – The Bridgewater College Eagles were picked fifth in the 2013 ODAC Women's Tennis Preseason Coaches Poll released today.

The Eagles finished the voting with 85 points, comfortably ahead of Guilford in the sixth place with 72 points.

Defending ODAC Champion Washington and Lee topped the poll with 11 first-place votes and 121 points. The Generals are ranked seventh in the country and No. 3 in the Atlantic South Region in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason rankings.

Virginia Wesleyan was second in the preseason ODAC poll with 99 points and the remaining first-place vote. Following right behind the Marlins were Hollins in third with 95 points and Roanoke in fourth with 93 points.

A year ago, the Eagles finished with a 12-5 record and advanced to the ODAC semifinals where they were eliminated by Hollins.

Bridgewater opens its spring season on Feb. 23 with an ODAC contest at Randolph College.
