FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - Bridgewater College's Jessie Mitchell won the flight six title match Sunday and teammate Marla O'Bryan reached the title match in flight four on the final day of action at the ITA Atlantic South regional tournament at the University of Mary Washington.
Mitchell won her semifinal match in flight six by a score of 8-4 to reach the title match against Stephanie Hunter. Mitchell outlasted her opponent 9-8, winning the tiebreaker 7-2, to claim the flight six championship.
O'Bryan won her semifinal match Sunday by a score of 9-7 to advance to her title match where she lost 8-4 to Anna Kankanala.
In other singles action, Katie Gordon lost in the quarterfinals of the championship flight 6-2, 6-1 to April Weaver.
In consolation bracket play, Jamee Hardison fell by a score of 8-2 to Megan Knapp in flight five.
In doubles action, the Eagles had two teams in action in flight two and both lost on Sunday. In the quarterfinals, O'Bryan and Brittany Wilson lost to the Randolph-Talley tandem, 8-4. In the consolation bracket, Mitchell and Holly Knupp lost their match, 8-4.
