WINCHESTER, Va. - Bridgewater College controlled play Wednesday to defeat Shenandoah 9-0 in ODAC women's tennis action.
The Eagles won the first two doubles matches without losing a game. Whitney Kiser and Shannon Quinn were first off the court with an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles and Ashley Price and Rachel Zarin matched that score with a win at No. 3 doubles. Nicole Shifflett and Stephanie Barton completed the doubles sweep with an 8-4 victory over Alyssa White and Madison Hansen at the No. 1 doubles position.
Bridgewater won all six singles matches in straight sets.
Shifflet was the first off the court in singles play with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Hansen at the No. 2 flight. Rachel Crawford scored the clinching point with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Elizabeth Pardo at No. 6 singles.
Kiser cruised past White 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 while Barton turned back Melodie Madison 6-2, 6-2 to win at No. 3. Quinn coasted to a 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 4 over Emma Crue and Price turned back Madison Rogers 6-1, 6-3 at No. 5.
The Eagles close out the regular season with a pair of matches this weekend. Bridgewater travels to Virginia Wesleyan on Saturday and returns home Sunday to host Guilford College.
