Dirnagl Named To VaSID All-State Volleyball First Team

Bridgewater College senior Erika Dirnagl was named to the 2009 VaSID College Division Volleyball All-State first team in voting conducted by the Virginia Sports Information Directors.

Dirnagl finished her career ranked No. 3 all-time at Bridgewater in kills. This past season she ranked second in the ODAC in kills per game and eight in hitting percentage.

Dirnagl was named to the All-ODAC first team in each of her four seasons, the first BC volleyball player to earn that distinction.

Joining Dirnagl on the first team were Christopher Newport's Caitlyn Janson, the VaSID Player of the Year, and her CNU teammate Kara Elder, the VaSID Rookie of the Year.

Rounding out the first team were Virginia Wesleyan's Rebecca Bradford, Emory & Henry's Rachel Fertitta and Randolph-Macon's Raena Winton.

Christopher Newport's Lindsay Birch was named the VaSID Coach of the Year.

Named to the all-state second team were Ferrum's Jessica Flanagan, CNU's Abby Hogge, Southern Virginia's Ali Krebs, Ranolph-Macon's Jill Kubichan, the University of Mary Washington's Anne Lutkenhaus and Washington and Lee's Rachael Phillips
