WASHINGTON D.C. - Bridgewater split its two volleyball matches Saturday to finish with a 2-2 record at the Catholic volleyball touranment.
After defeating Finlandia and losing to Frostburg State on Friday afternoon, the Eagles were looking for a Saturday sweep.
However, the host school derailed those thoughts by defeating Bridgewater on Saturday morning in three straight 25-21, 25-17, 25-22.
Katie Baker (Strasburg, Va./Strasburg) with 12 kills and Katie Long (Floyd, Va./Floyd County) with nine led the Eagles at the net. Kai-Lynn Stoker (Potomac, Md./Jack Britt) added 15 digs and Lindsay Kallam (Virginia Beach, Va./Princess Anne) finished with 31 assists.
The Eagles bounced back from the loss to defeat ODAC rival Eastern Mennonite, 3-0, in a non-conference matchup. Bridgewater controlled play to defeat the Royals 25-23, 25-20, 25-19.
Baker hit for a .417 percentage with 12 kills and Mara Hogan (Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) added eight kills. Stoker had four aces while Kallam finished with 11 digs and 26 assists.
Bridgewater, now 6-2 overall, will plays its home-opener Friday evening when the Eagles host ODAC rival Lynchburg College at 6:30 p.m.
