Eagles Drop A Pair Of Close Matches On First Day Of St. Mary's Invitational

ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. - Bridgewater lost a pair of close matches Friday on the first day of the St. Mary's Seahawks Invitational.

The Eagles opened the tournament against the host Seahawks. Bridgewater won the first game 25-22 but the Seahawks rallied and won the next three 25-19, 25-20, 25-17 to close out the match.

Katie Baker led the Eagles at the net with 14 kills and a .480 hitting percentage while Katie Long added 13 kills and four blocks. Mara Hogan finished with a double-double of 10 kills and 17 digs. Casey O'Leary led the team in digs with 20 and Lindsay Kallam paced the Eagles in assists with 43.

In the second match of the evening, Muhlenberg defeated the Eagles 3-1. Muhlenberg won the first game 25-22 but the Eagles evened the score by taking the second game 25-19. Muhlenberg then took the next two games 25-21 and 25-19.

Baker and Long each finished with 14 kills to pace the offense and Kylie Graham added 27 assists. O'Leary led the team with 19 digs and Kai-Lynn Stoker contributed 13 digs.

The Eagles, now 13-15, will close out their regular season on Saturday with matches against City College of New York and Wesley College.
