Mills and Kubisiak Qualify for National Championship to Pace Women to Fifth Place Finish

HAMPTON, Va. – Bridgewater senior Olivia Mills and freshman Kaylee Kubisiak placed fourth and fifth on Saturday at the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional cross country championship. The Eagles women's cross country team placed fifth overall.

Mills crossed the finish line with a time of 22:31.24 and Kubisiak finished eight seconds behind Mills in a time of 22:39. Mills and Kubisiak each earned All-Region honors for their efforts.

Senior Whitney Fitzgerald completed the six kilometer course with a time of 24:20.07, which was good enough for 42nd place.

Sophomore Zanny Ludtke finished the championship in 45th place with a time of 24:25.03.

Freshman Lauren Johnson and junior Stephanie Breen crossed the finish line back-to-back in 87th and 88th place, respectively. Johnson finished with a time of 25:28.19 and Breen finished two seconds behind Johnson in a time of 25:30.

Trinity (Texas) placed three runners in the top ten and two more in the top 25 to win the team championship and earn the region's automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. Emory University finished in second place overall after placing five runners in the top 35.

Washington and Lee completed the meet with three runners in the top 25 finishing fourth place overall to lead the way among Old Dominion Athletic Conference teams.

Mary Baldwin's Sophia Stone was the individual champion, finishing the course with a time of 22:03.69.

The NCAA Division III cross country championship will take place in Terre Haute, Ind. on Saturday, November 17.
