KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Ohio Northern jumped out to an early 8-0 lead and the Polar Bears led the rest of the way in a 15-5 victory Wednesday over Bridgewater College.
Trailing 8-0, the Eagles got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third. Brett Tharpe doubled and scored on a single by Jarrett Biesecker. Biesecker then stole second and moved to third on Jacob Grabeel's single. Grabeel was picked off first, but Biesecker scored on the play to pull the Eagles to within 8-2.
Bridgewater (3-7) added another run in the fourth inning. Kevin Navedo was hit by a pitch and Matthew LaPrade followed with a single. Tharpe then walked to load the bases. Brett Lysohir followed with a single, scoring Navedo to make the score 8-3.
The Polar Bears broke the game open with four runs in the sixth to take a 12-3 lead.
The Eagles scored their final two runs in the eight inning. Timothy Hopson doubled and scored on a single by Ryan Skadra. A single by Navedo moved Skadra to second before a base hit by LaPrade chased Skadra home with the Eagles' final run of the game.
LaPrade led the offense with three base hits. Sam Imeson provided a strong relief effort, allowing no runs on just one hit in 2.2 innings. The lefty struck out three and did not walk a batter.
