Bridgewater IDA Team Wins Home Tournament

The Bridgewater IDA team placed first Sunday in a tournament at the BCEC.

WEYERS CAVE, Va. - The Intercollegiate Dressage Team won its home tournament Sunday at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center to remain in first place in the regional standings.

Participating teams and individuals represented programs from Bridgewater College, Virginia Tech, Emory and Henry College, the University of Virginia, Radford University, Ferrum College and Appalachian State University. There were nine slots in the four sections of First Level, Upper Training, Lower Training and Introductory levels offered for the tournament.

In the team standings for Bridgewater College, Melissa Lempicki was sixth place in First level, Lauren Powtak took second place in Upper Training Level, Morgan Sowers placed first in Lower Training Level and Jemma Constant finished third in Introductory Level.

In the individual standings, Nicole Hylton was second in First Level, Meaghan Cleary placed fourth in Upper Training Level, Lauren Bucket took seventh in Upper Training Level and Hannah Foster won the Introductory Level.

The Eagles won the team title followed by Virginia Tech Emory and Henry, University of Virginia, Radford University, Ferrum College and Appalachian​ State University.

Bridgewater will host another tournament at the BCEC on Feb. 4.
