Wothers Takes First In Open On The Flat At BCEC

WEYERS CAVE, Va. - Zellie Wothers placed first in Open on the Flat, one of four blue ribbons for the riding team, in Sunday's IHSA event co-hosted by Bridgewater and James Madison at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center.

Wothers added a second-place finish in Open Over Fences. Also in the Open Division, Samantha Van Winter placed third on the flat and fifth over fences.

In the Intermediate Division, Melissa Lempicki placed fifth on the flat and over fences. Nicole Hylton also placed fifth on the flat and Samantha Hawrysko placed sixth over fences.

In the Novice division, Georgia Osborne took first place on the flat and added a third over fences.  Megan Heffernan placed fifth on the flat and Laurin Watts added a third place over fences.  

In Advaned Walk-Trot-Canter, Jordan Criss placed third and Emilia Tumminello took second.  

In Walk-Trot, Kayla Parker and Courtney Anderson both placed first.

Wothers also competed in honors in a five-way tie for the show's High Point Rider.

In the team standings, Bridgewater finished with 28 points, tied with JMU, for fourth place. Randolph placed first with 35 points while Hollins and Virginia tied for second, each with 33 points. Lynchburg scored 30 points to finish just ahead of the Eagles and JMU. Finishing just behind Bridgewater was Washington and Lee with 27 points. Roanoke scored 10 points
