Eagles Finish Fourth At First IDA Show Of The Season

WEYERS CAVE, Va. - Bridgewater College placed fourth Sunday at the season-opening IDA show held at the Bridgewater College Equestrian Center.

Six teams competed including Bridgewater, Emory and Henry College, Ferrum College, Radford University, University of Virginia and Virginia Tech. Appalachian State University did not compete as a team, but several individual riders competed.

The day started at the highest level offered, First Level Test 2. Bridgewater freshman Natalie Ellis won in the individual rider competition while Melissa Lempicki took third place for the Eagles in the team standings. 

The second test was Training Level Test 2 with Megan Heffernan placing third for the team. In Training Level Test 1 Jemma Constant was fifth for the team and Kasey Enright was ninth.  The final test was the Introductory Level Test B with Isabel Ammendolia placing third for the team while freshman Devon Francis was fifth and Hannah Foster seventh in the individual standings.

A new offering this year was the Dressage Seat Equitation classes. At first level, Lempicki was second and Ellis was third. In Upper Training Level, Heffernan placed second. In Lower Training, Jemma Constant won and at the Introductory Level Ammendolia finished in second place.

Team scores were as follows: Virginia Tech and Emory and Henry tied at 15 points with Tech winning the tie breaker. U.Va. was third with 13 points, followed by Bridgewater with 12 points, Ferrum College with one point and Radford University with zero points earned.
