FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Bridgewater College IHSA team took the reserve champion title Saturday at the final Tournament of Champions show of the season hosted by the University of Mary Washington.
Saturday's finished also helped the team claim the reserve championship for this year's entire Tournament of Champions series.
Bridgewater scored 41 points in Saturday's show to finish just behind the Savannah College for Art & Design Bumble Team that scored 43 points to claim the show title.
A total of 16 teams competed in the show with the top eight receiving awards at the end of the show. Following the Eagles in the show standings were Goucher College with 30 points, Ohio University with 27 points, SCAD team Honey with 25 points, Mount Holyoke College with 23 points, Randolph College with 23 points, Sweet Briar College with 21 points, Miamo (Ohio) with 20 points, Penn State with 17 ponts, UConn with 17 points. Rutgers University with 17 points, Delaware Valley College with 16 points, UMass-Amherst 15 points, University of Delaware 11 points and University of Mary Washington six points.
To begin the day, freshman Michael Golinowski won the Open over fences class and was second in Open flat. Golinowski also made the call-back for the High Medal and was sixth overall.
Senior Hannah Foster earned second place honors in the Walk Trot Canter division and freshman Jessica Goodman made her IHSA debut with a great ride in the Walk Trot class, earning a fourth place ribbon.
The team returns to action on Feb. 10 at Randolph College for the first IHSA show of the regular season.
