Six Football Players Earn All-ODAC Honors

FOREST, Va. – Six Bridgewater College football players earned 2017 All-ODAC honors, led by a second consecutive first team selection for junior defensive back Isaac Evans.

Evans, a first team All-ODAC and VaSID All-State choice as a sophomore, ranked second in the ODAC with five interceptions, returning two of them for touchdowns. He tied for third in the ODAC with two forced fumbles, while adding 54 tackles, three pass breakups and a blocked kick. He also set a new school career record with four pick-sixes.

Two Eagles earned second team honors on each side of the ball- running back Malivai Barker, offensive lineman Jacob Heaton, defensive end Muhammad Khan and linebacker Gary Ramey Jr.

Barker, a senior, earned his second straight second team All-ODAC nod. He ranked fifth in the conference with 825 rushing yards and seventh with eight touchdowns. He also caught 20 balls for 153 yards and a score.

Heaton, also a senior, completed his second year as BC's starting center. He was third team All-ODAC as a junior.

Khan, a junior, tied for third in the ODAC with two forced fumbles, and ranked in the top-10 for sacks (4.0) and tackles for loss (9.5). He also had 32 tackles and a fumble recovery.

Ramey totaled 51 tackles in his sophomore season, adding four pass breakups, one forced fumble and one TFL.

Senior cornerback Josh Brooks was named to the third team. Brooks ranked third in the ODAC with four interceptions, and added 11 pass breakups to rank second in passes defensed. He also had 37 tackles and a forced fumble.

Washington & Lee garnered four major individual awards and earned 12 selections to All-Conference teams to headline the 2017 All-ODAC football awards. Hampden-Sydney receiver Cam Johnson was named the J. Stokeley Fulton Offensive Player of the Year, while W&L linebacker Max Garrett took home Lou Wacker Defensive Player of the Year and ODAC/Virginia Farm Bureau Insurance Scholar-Athlete Laurels. Generals mentor Scott Abell was tabbed the ODAC Coach of the Year, while W&L running back Josh Breece received ODAC Rookie of the Year recognition.
