SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team opened their trip to Tennessee with a 4-0 loss to Rhodes College.

The game was played on the campus of Sewanee, who the Eagles will face tomorrow.

Sabrina Simpson opened the scoring 15 minutes in, after BC goalie Ali Bishop had saved the initial shot from Hannah Luckes.

Rhodes made it 2-0 on another rebound opportunity. Bishop stopped three straight shots, only for Lizzie Wood to finally jam it in.

Hailey Mules pushed the Rhodes lead to 3-0 in the second half, and then added her second of the day to cap the scoring.

The Rhodes defense stifled several promising Eagles chances, including a blocked shot just before halftime that looked to be heading on target.

Early in the second half, Tessa Tierson had a shot saved, leading to an Eagles corner. Karinne Moyer played the inset and Tierson put another shot on goal that was also turned away by Rhodes goalie Nina Migneco.

Migneco covered a shot by Courtney Cooke with 15 minutes remaining, leading to a Bridgewater penalty stroke. Georgia Howard's shot went wide however, the second straight stroke missed by the Eagles this second.

Emily Witzke (who played the second half for Bridgewater) and Migneco each finished with seven saves, while Bishop recorded six saves in the first half.

Bridgewater (3-3) sees its three-game winning streak end, while Rhodes improves to 5-0 on the year.
