BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College field hockey team fell 3-0 to visiting Randolph-Macon on Friday night at Jopson Field.

Despite a first half largely controlled by Bridgewater, the Yellow Jackets struck first with 2:27 left before halftime.

RMC scored on a counterattack that went the length of the field. Maria Ambrogi-Torres passed to Katie Brookman, who sent the ball forward into the box. Ayanna Healy touched it along to Catie Burnette, who tapped it in at the left post.

Randolph-Macon then came out on fire in the second half. Burnette scored her second of the day off Brookman's cross to make it 2-0, and Ambrogi-Torres finished off a slapper on a penalty corner.

The Eagles had nearly broken through in just the second minute of action as Tessa Tierson broke free on the left side but put the shot into the goalie's pads.

On their third corner of the first half, Georgia Howard's slap shot was also saved. RMC goalie Gatlin Snyder (five saves) later made a tough diving stop on a rebound that fell to Tierson.

On consecutive corners within the final 10 minutes of the first, Courtney Cooke had two redirections that went close. The first, off Howard's shot, was inches wide of the right post and the latter, from Tierson's shot, went wide left.

Tierson had another good chance on Jacqueline DiFulvio's cross later in the game, but Snyder made another stop.

Bridgewater is 6-6, 3-2 ODAC and will host Hendrix on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Sunday will be Senior Day for the Eagles, who will recognize two departing All-Conference athletes- Tierson and Laura Gretz.
