BRIDGEWATER, Va. - The Bridgewater College field hockey team won its Senior Day Game on Sunday, 3-0 over Hendrix.
The Eagles' two seniors combined on the second goal off a penalty corner. Laura Gretz slid the ball over to Tessa Tierson on the left side for the goal.
Tierson had a hand in all three goals, assisting Karinne Moyer for the other two BC points.
Tierson had broken free down the left side right two minutes before her goal and Moyer finished off her cross to open the scoring.
After going up 2-0 the Eagles ran the same penalty corner play that had led to the second goal. Gretz pushed it over to Tierson with a fake from Georgia Howard, but this time the shot was saved by Alexis Truitt.
Truitt finished with 20 saves in the game, including eight in a scoreless second half.
Truitt saved four shots on a corner with 15 minutes left in the first, blocking Kelsey Hicks, Courtney Cooke and then two shots from Moyer.
BC goalie Ali Bishop finished with seven saves, including a good kick save after Holly Heeb played Tegan Waller in behind the defense early in the second half.
Emily Witzke went into the cage for the final 20 minutes and made two more saves for the Eagles.
Bridgewater improves to 7-6 and will host Virginia Wesleyan on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
