Golfers win State Intercollegiate Title

Bridgewater College shot the best round of the tournament Monday afternoon to win the 12-team State Intercollegiate golf title at Hanover Country Club. The Eagles shot a 301 score to pull away for a 10-shot victory over Roanoke College. BC finished the tournament with a two-round total of 619 to win the state title for the second straight year.

All four Bridgewater counters finished in the Top 10.

Mike Redwood posted his second straight 76 to finish with a two-day score of 152 - good for second place overall. John Phillips posted a second-round 78 to finish in a tie for fourth at 154. Nick Dean shot 76 in the second round and finished tied for seventh with a 156 total. Luke Nash, who shot 86 in the first round, turned in the best score of the second round, as he led the Eagles with a 71. Nash finished at 157, tied for ninth overall.

The title concludes a very successful fall season for the Eagles. Bridgewater won three of the four tournaments it entered. The Eagles also won the Ted Keller Invitational and the Tom Kinder Memorial.
