GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Bridgewater College men's golf team finished in sixth place, as the top teams finished strong at the 2018 ODAC championships.
BC started the day in sixth, but just two strokes back of fourth place. The top four teams combined to finish seven of eight rounds under 300 however, as the tournament finished with 36 holes to beat bad weather rolling in. Bridgewater shot 310 and 317 in their final two rounds to settle in at 934, 19 strokes back of fifth-place Randolph-Macon.
Freshman Jason Spaar closed strong with a 73 and 76 to tie for 14th place at his first conference championship.
Spaar birdied #3, #6 and #10 in the morning round as reached -1 on two separate occasions. He added four more birdies in the final round, including a second straight birdie on the par-5 3rd hole.
Ronald Uszenski played a consistent tournament, shooting 78-79-77 to tie for 26th place overall. He recorded three birdies on Sunday, including two in the morning round.
Ocean Armstrong was near the top of the leaderboard after a 76 in round two, but closed with an 85 to place 31st. He birdied the par-5 11th in his morning round, and made par or better on 14 of 18 holes.
Senior Luke Hill rebounded from a second round 82, his first round of the season in the 80s, to finish with a 79 and place 33rd. He birdied the par-5 11th to get to 1-over in his final round, and recovered from a +4 stretch over three holes to still record a sub-80 score.
Another senior, Jake Norby, shot 88 and 86 in his final two rounds.
Guilford College won the championship going away, beating second place Washington & Lee by 33 strokes.
