Mann Joins 100-Point Club With Seven-Goal Effort

GREENSBORO, N.C. –
Blake Mann totaled eight points and reached the 100-point milestone, as the Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team defeated host Greensboro College 16-6.

Mann scored seven times, the third-highest single game total in the program, and joined Derrick Daniels as the only two Eagles in the 100-point club. He is also now just nine away from becoming Bridgewater's first 100-goal scorer.

Chris Voorhees had two goals and an assist, while Daniel Brown added a goal and two helpers. Austin Aguilar won 9-of-12 faceoffs and picked up eight ground balls, and Nick Strider won 10-of-13 faceoffs with six ground balls.

Mann continued his early season scoring hot streak with a hat trick in the opening 14 minutes, tying the game twice at 1-1 and 2-2 after early Pride goals.

His second and third tallies of the first quarter sandwiched a four-goal run that put Bridgewater ahead for good, with Hunter Callan and Brown also scoring in between.

Mann's fourth of the day made it 6-3 with 13:33 left in the second quarter. Strider won the faceoff clean and had a shot attempt saved, but Jake Truman forced a turnover on the clear and scored for a 7-3 lead.

The Eagles continued to strike fast in the second quarter. After Greensboro got one back, Aguilar won the faceoff and Brown hit Mann for an answer just 39 seconds later.

Voorhees made it 10-4 Eagles with 38 seconds left before halftime. Aguilar again won the faceoff and the ground ball, allowing the Eagles to call timeout and set up a play that led to another three-goal quarter for Mann just before the break.

Neither side scored for the first 13 minutes of the third quarter. Bridgewater killed off two penalties, with goalie Kevin Metzger saving Johnathan Avedesian after a 30-second hold and then Davis Miller following a one-minute bodycheck.

Bridgewater had also an extra man opportunity come up empty in the third quarter, with Mann denied by Greensboro's Chris DiBlasi.

Mann scored his seventh of the day with six seconds remaining in the third quarter, and then assisted Matthew Arndt early in the fourth to push the Eagles' lead to 14-5.

Bridgewater is 4-3 on the season and will host Susquehanna on Saturday at noon.
