GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Bridgewater College men's lacrosse team hit double-digit wins for the first time, beating Guilford 15-8 on the road Saturday.
Reigning ODAC Player of the Week Eric Husselbaugh continued his hot streak with four goals and two assists. Hunter Callan added two goals and two assists, and Connor McLean recorded a hat trick.
Grayson Rech led the defense with four caused turnovers, and Mason Gauntt won 16-of-17 faceoffs.
After a lengthy lightning delay before game time, the Eagles scored the final four goals of the first quarter- from Sean MacLeish, McLean, Husselbaugh and Jake Pangle- to lead 4-1 after 15 minutes played.
McLean, Husselbaugh and MacLeish each scored in the opening five minutes of the second quarter to push the lead to 7-1.
The Quakers battled back, getting two straight from Joe Eggleston and then a man-up goal from Brennan Sweeney. Guilford added the final two of the period to enter halftime trailing just 8-6, and then struck man-up in the first minute of the third to make it a one-goal scoreline.
Bridgewater put the game away with a 6-0 run over a span of exactly 10 and a half minutes in the third quarter however.
Husselbaugh scored and assisted Callan for a 10-7 lead. MacLeish and Kyle Graham pushed the lead to 12-7, and Callan and Jacob Clemmer each scored in the final minute of the third quarter for a 14-7 advantage.
The Eagles improve to 10-4, 3-4 ODAC and will conclude the season with three straight home games, beginning with Hampden-Sydney on Wednesday.
