VIRGINA BEACH, Va. - Virginia Wesleyan scored early in each half late Saturday afternoon to defeat Bridgewater College, 2-0, in the quarterfinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's soccer tournament.
Chris Cooke put the Marlins on the scoreboard just three minutes into the contest with an unassisted goal.
That would be the only score of the first half as the Marlins took a 1-0 lead into the break. The Marlins held a 5-1 edge in first-half shots as much of the action was contained to the midfield.
Virginia Wesleyan tacked on an insurance goal in the first seven minutes of second-half action. Isaac Arrington found the back of the net after taking a pass from Tanner Martin to put the Marlins on top 2-0.
Bridgewater goalkeeper Kevin Morris finished with fives saves. Marlins keeper Connor Kirkhan recorded two saves.
The Eagles finish the 2014 season with a 6-13 record.
