BRIDGEWATER, Va. - Randolph jumped out to a quick lead with two, first-half goals and the WildCats held off Bridgewater in the second half to take a 3-1 victory, dealing the Eagles their first ODAC loss of the season.
The WildCats struck in the 15th minute to take the lead. Barun Tamang sent a through ball to the left side and Randolph's leading scorer Adam Watson converted the goal, his eighth of the season, to put the visitors on the board.
Randolph added to its lead two minutes later, scoring off a set piece. Watson took the corner and sent a ball to the near post and Daniel Over headed his shot just inside the post to give the WildCats a 2-0 lead.
The score remained 2-0 until the 76th minute when the Eagles tallied to make it a one-goal game. Jacob Heiston had a throw-in from the right side and sent a long throw into the box. Thomas White headed the ball past the keeper to pull the Eagles to within 2-1. The goal was White's ODAC-leading 11th of the season.
Bridgewater kept the pressure on, but the Cats put the game away in the closing minutes when Gunnar Copeland controlled a long pass and worked past his defender for the shot. Copeland struck the ball 18 yards out to the far post for a goal to put Randolph ahead 3-1.
The loss snapped the Eagles' five-game winning streak. Bridgewater, now 8-4 overall and 5-1 in the ODAC, has a week off before returning to action next Saturday on the road against Hampden-Sydney.
