Pacers Edge Eagles In Second OT

BRIDGEWATER, Va. - William Peace scored the winning goal midway through the second overtime Friday afternoon to defeat Bridgewater, 2-1, in men's soccer action.

The Eagles scored first midway through the first half when freshman forward Alex Martinez took an open look from 18 yards out and beat the Pacers' keeper with a shot toward the far post for a 1-0 lead.

Bridgewater held the one goal lead at the half, but the Pacers came out with consistent pressure early in the second half. The Pacers put three shots on goal during a three-minute span early in the second half, but each time Bridgewater keeper Colin Rouaud was in position for the save.

The Pacers put the equalizer on the scoreboard in the 72nd minute. Osciel Dominguez sent a pass from the far side into the box and Jose Garcia headed a shot from straight away past Rouaud to tie the score at 1-1.

The score remained tied until midway through the second OT. William Peace's Jorge Aguilar sent a pass across the box to Jose Garcia and Garcia put the winning shot in the back of the net for the 2-1 Pacers victory.

The visitors finished the contest with a 17-8 advantage in shots. Rouaud finished the contest with six saves for the Eagles.

Bridgewater is back in action Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. when the Eagles host York.
