Yellow Jackets Slip Past Eagles, 2-1

ASHLAND, Va. - Randolph-Macon scored in the 74th minute Thursday evening to snap a 1-1 tie and defeat the Bridgewater College Eagles 2-1 in ODAC action.

Randolph-Macon's Anthony Astruc hit a hard shot from the 30 yards out that found the upper part of the goal for the game-winning score.

The game was tied at 1-1 at halftime after both squads scored goals early in the first half.

The Yellow Jackets tallied first, scoring in the eighth minute when Colton Howell scored from inside the box for a quick 1-0 Macon lead.

The Eagles answered in the 15th minute when Luke Lowry passed to Thomas White who slipped past a defender and put his shot into the back of the net to tie the contest at 1-1.

Bridgewater held a 17-13 edge in total shots while the Yellow Jackets owned a slim 5-4 edge in corner kicks. Just eight of the 30 shots in the game were put on frame Bridgewater keeper Mark Collins finished with two saves.

The Eagles are back in action Saturday for Homecoming when they host Raonoke College, the leader in the ODAC standings. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
