Eagle Men Shatter Five School Records in Season-Opening Dual Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swimming team smashed several school records as the Eagles opened their 2018-19 dual meet schedule at home, losing 147-44 to Hampden-Sydney on Friday evening.

Freshman Austin Bacon won the 200 IM with a time of 2:21.60, breaking BC's program record by over 28 seconds.

He then went back-to-back in the next race, placing second in the 200 fly with a time of 2:23.95- this time breaking another school record by over 40 seconds.

Another rookie, Benjamin Dillon, placed third in the 200 back in 2:44.52- beating the program mark in that race by 30 seconds.

In the 800 free, Tito Alcazar placed third in 11:25.54- breaking the BC meters record by over 21 seconds.

The Eagles also set a 200 free school record, with Bacon, Raphael Stanek, Ben Williams and Wyatt Seraphin swimming 1:56.41 to place third.

Bridgewater (0-1, 0-1 ODAC) will swim again tomorrow, at Gallaudet.
