Rookies Set Records as Men's Swimming Beats Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Bridgewater's rookies recorded five of the six school records set, as the Eagles defeated Gallaudet 152-71 on Saturday.

Freshman Austin Bacon set school records in the 1000 yard free (10:36.41), 100 fly (56.00) and 100 free (53.41). He also won all three races.

Another rookie, Kevin Whalen, won and set a school yardage mark in the 100 back (1:04.36). Classmate Benjamin Dillon set a record in the 100 IM (1:06.73)

Jarratt Davis placed second in the 200 yard free, but his time of 2:15.58 was also a school record.

The Eagles don't keep 50-meter records besides the freestyle, but won at those distances in the 50 free (Whalen- 23.37), 50 fly (Whalen- 26.19), 50 back (Wyatt Seraphin- 31.80) and 50 breast (Tito Alcazar- 33.21).

Ben Williams, Alcazar, Dillon and Whalen won the 200 medley in 1:59.35.

Bacon, Seraphin, Raphael Stanek and Davis closed the meet with a victory in the 200 free relay, in 1:41.48.

The Eagles are 1-1 in dual meet competition and will swim next on Friday, Nov. 2 at Ferrum.
