Men's Swimming Wins Final Three Events to Take Close Meet

BRIDGEWATER, Va. – The Bridgewater College men's swimming team won the final three events to edge Emory & Henry 121-114.

Freshman Austin Bacon won the last two individual events back-to-back. He took the 100 fly in a school record 1:02.41, and got right back in the pool to win the 200 IM in 2:22.22.

The meet came down to the 200 free relay, and Bridgewater won the race in another school record. Kevin Whalen, Raphael Stanek, Jarratt Davis and Wyatt Seraphin swam to 1:46.95 to clinch the meet.

Overall, the Eagles set seven school meter records in the meet.

That included three individual marks from Whalen, in the 100 back (1:07.35), 50 free (25.96) and 100 free (59.36). Whalen won all three races.

Tito Alcazar lowered his own school mark in the 200 meter breast, placing second with a time of 3:02.19.

Bridgewater also set a school mark in the 200 medley relay, with Benjamin Dillon, Alcazar, Bacon and Seraphin swimming 2:03.53.

The Eagles (3-1, 2-1 ODAC) will swim next at Randolph-Macon's Yellow Jacket Invitational on Nov. 30- Dec. 1.
