Men's Tennis Defeats Roanoke 7-2

BRIDGEWATER - Bridgewater College rolled to a 7-2 ODAC men's tennis victory Tuesday afternoon over Roanoke College in a match played on Mapp Courts.

The Eagles were awarded victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles by default and needed just three more points to claim the team win.

The teams split the two doubles contests that were played. Freddie Roberts and Nathaniel Horner put the Eagles on the board with an 8-2 win at No. 2 doubles over Jack Fishwick and Jack Doriss. Roanoke picked up its first point when Jose Alvarado and Grayson White held off Joe Dillenbeck and Josh Rodgers, 8-6, to win at No. 1 doubles.

Horner picked up the first singles point for the Eagles with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Alson Martin at the No. 5 slot. Rodgers clinched the team victory with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Fishwick at the No. 2 slot.

Dillenbeck bounced back to defeat Alvarado at No. 1 singles, winning 6-3, 7-6. Roberts scored the final point for the Eagles with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 4 singles over Doriss.

White claimed the lone singles victory for the Maroons as he held off Johnson at the No. 3 position 7-5, 6-3.
